When Speed Meets Precision: Can a Four-Story Building Be Done in Four Weeks?
Every construction project teaches something new, but some redefine what’s possible.
When Nexont LLC took on the challenge of designing and detailing a four-story event building in Indiana, we weren’t just building a structure; we were racing against time itself. Completing both main and miscellaneous steel approvals in just four weeks required precision, trust, and relentless teamwork.
It was a true test of planning, collaboration, and execution, and the results spoke for themselves.
From Kickoff to Completion, A Fast-Track Journey
The journey started with a clear scope of work and a kickoff meeting with our client. With deadlines this tight, alignment was everything.
Fortunately, the drawings provided by the client were well-prepared, giving us a strong foundation. Our team quickly built a plan that allowed modelling, detailing, and approvals to progress simultaneously.
Within just 1.5 weeks, the entire 3D model was completed — a milestone made possible by detailed coordination and smart workflow design.
How Did Nexont Maintain Accuracy Under Such Tight Deadlines?
That was one of the biggest challenges in this fast-track project.
The answer lies in strategic planning and cross-team coordination. From day one, the detailing, modelling, and connection design teams worked in parallel, supported by an efficient RFI response system with the client.
Our engineers addressed every clarification immediately, preventing rework later in the process.
By merging experience, structured communication, and precise modelling, Nexont delivered the entire project error-free, even under extreme time pressure.
Engineering the Details, Strength in Every Connection
This project was not just fast; it was technically intricate.
The connection design featured bolted moment connections for columns and beams, supported by stiffeners for additional stability. For beam-to-beam connections, we used standard shear tabs, while some locations required custom embed connections using threaded rods.
