  1. When Speed Meets Precision: Can a Four-Story Building Be Done in Four Weeks?

Every construction project teaches something new, but some redefine what’s possible.

When Nexont LLC took on the challenge of designing and detailing a four-story event building in Indiana, we weren’t just building a structure; we were racing against time itself. Completing both main and miscellaneous steel approvals in just four weeks required precision, trust, and relentless teamwork.

It was a true test of planning, collaboration, and execution, and the results spoke for themselves.

  1. From Kickoff to Completion, A Fast-Track Journey

The journey started with a clear scope of work and a kickoff meeting with our client. With deadlines this tight, alignment was everything.

Fortunately, the drawings provided by the client were well-prepared, giving us a strong foundation. Our team quickly built a plan that allowed modelling, detailing, and approvals to progress simultaneously.

Within just 1.5 weeks, the entire 3D model was completed — a milestone made possible by detailed coordination and smart workflow design.

  1. How Did Nexont Maintain Accuracy Under Such Tight Deadlines?

That was one of the biggest challenges in this fast-track project.

The answer lies in strategic planning and cross-team coordination. From day one, the detailing, modelling, and connection design teams worked in parallel, supported by an efficient RFI response system with the client.

Our engineers addressed every clarification immediately, preventing rework later in the process.

By merging experience, structured communication, and precise modelling, Nexont delivered the entire project error-free, even under extreme time pressure.

  1. Engineering the Details, Strength in Every Connection

This project was not just fast; it was technically intricate.

The connection design featured bolted moment connections for columns and beams, supported by stiffeners for additional stability. For beam-to-beam connections, we used standard shear tabs, while some locations required custom embed connections using threaded rods.

At one point, our team faced a joist seating clash with a top moment plate. Instead of delaying progress, we proposed a new solution, secured client approval, and executed it flawlessly — a true example of problem-solving under pressure.

  1. Building Beyond Structure, The Miscellaneous Steel Work

No project is complete without the finishing components that tie everything together.

Inside the event building, we designed a three-flight lobby stair with plate rails, anchored securely to both floors and beams. The two stair towers were modular, allowing them to be split level by level, simplifying field erection and improving efficiency.

Outside, a low-level platform facing the cricket ground added a unique touch. Around it, we detailed guardrails with a flat top plate — perfect for visitors to rest their cups or snacks while watching a match.

Even the rooftop ramp and guardrails were designed with the same focus on stability, safety, and precision.

  1. What Challenges Did the Team Face During Detailing and How Were They Solved?

The most notable challenge was the lack of design details for the brick wall support system.

To solve it, Nexont’s engineers proposed a custom solution using bent plates and kicker angles with bolted connections. This not only stabilized the structure but also met the aesthetic requirements of the design.

Another challenge involved connection interferences, such as the joist seating clash with a top plate, which were resolved through immediate client coordination and redesign proposals.

These moments proved that speed and accuracy can coexist when engineering and communication go hand in hand.

  1. Delivering Excellence, Error-Free

After weeks of intense focus, the project reached completion on time and error-free.

The erection process went flawlessly, proving that precision, planning, and teamwork are the foundation of every Nexont success story.

Every bolt and beam stands as proof of what’s possible when engineering excellence meets collaborative speed.

  1. The Art of Speed and Precision

Completing a four-story event building in four weeks wasn’t just about meeting a deadline — it was about redefining what’s achievable when every team member moves with shared purpose.

At Nexont LLC, every project — whether a federal facility, stair tower, or commercial complex — reflects the same philosophy:

“Precision first, deadlines next — and both achieved together.”

We don’t just design structures.

We engineer trust, speed, and excellence — one project at a time.
