Our Client’s Challenge
The Burnsville Police & City Hall project involved detailing a modern municipal facility that combined both administrative and public safety functions. The structural scope included long-span roof framing, multi-level floor systems, and integrated architectural features that required precise coordination. The challenge lay in modeling complex geometries and ensuring structural stability while working under a strict timeline to meet the city’s construction schedule. Additionally, the project demanded strict adherence to municipal building standards and quality expectations for a government facility.
Our Approach And Solution
Nexont Engineering leveraged SDS2 to develop a fully coordinated 3D model of the structure. Our detailing team carefully aligned roof framing, joist supports, and column grids to ensure accuracy and constructability. Special focus was placed on long-span framing members and their connections, which required careful load considerations and clash-free integration. To stay on schedule, our team implemented phased detailing releases, allowing fabrication to begin without delay. A robust QA/QC process, along with close collaboration with the engineering and fabrication teams, ensured error-free drawings and efficient project execution.
